Conflict consumes managers time

Those of you who are management or leaders of organizations know first hand that conflict costs money. And, in fact, there have been studies in recent years that have tried to quantify what are the costs to businesses in relation to workplace conflict. Well just to give you an idea of some of the work that‘s been done on trying to analyze this. One study found that 30% of a typical manager’s time is spent dealing with conflict. And, a more current study shows that 42% of a
manager’s time is spent on reaching an agreement with others when a conflict occurs. So, almost half of a manger’s time is being spent on resolving conflict. That’s a lot of time that could be spent more on increasing productivity, helping with training, team building, and all those other kinds of activities that go into making a business prosperous.
